Drama / Choir Students Do Well In Contest

This past Saturday six Brazoswood drama students represented Brazoswood against eight other schools at the Columbia High School Invitational. All six students advanced to final rounds, and all six students earned trophies in one or more events, for a total trophy count of thirteen.

Brazoswood drama dominated the acting events.

Sweeping all trophies in Duet Acting were the teams: Ross Varner & Phillip White with 1st place; Annie Johnson & Jenny Ayala with 2nd place; and Brittany Flurry & Phillip White with 3rd place.

A sweep in Solo Acting was nearly achieved with
Phillip White’s 1st place and Annie Johnson’s 3rd place wins.

The Group Improvisation team of
Ross Varner, Brittany Flurry, & Phillip White took 2nd place.

Brazoswood drama also captured honors in the Interpretation events.

The big winner in Interpretation was senior Brittany Flurry with a 1st place in Senior Poetry Interpretation and a 3rd place in Senior Prose Interpretation.

Another near-sweep was achieved when junior
Phillip White’s 2nd place in Senior Prose Interpretation joined Brittany’s Prose win.

First time competitor,
Amanda Thomson won a 3rd place in Novice Prose Interpretation.

Winning team points by advancing to finals,
Ross Varner took a fourth place in Bible reading in addition to his two previously mentioned acting wins.
